Lauren Daigle with her team were going over the EP songs when her producer Paul Mabury told her about this song. She has tears rolling down her face, the first time she heard this song play. Paul crafted the story something like this, ‘Jesus is bending down and writing a story, when all of a sudden, a woman is thrown at his feet by the crowd. She is caught in the adultery. But Jesus gets up and steps up and shows her what the purpose was even before He fulfilled it.’
When Paul told her this story, she thought of everything that she has done to offend anyone, things she has said to hurt people, things she has done even knowing that they were wrong. The story of the woman is something that everyone can relate in some or the other way. The sin we commit, and the feeling knowing that how much it would have broken the Father’s heart. But he forgives all, his grace makes a new sense because of this song.

There have been many turn of events for the singer while recording this album. She started noticing and hearing from the people that they cannot approach the Lord because they are ashamed of their sins. That the feeling of guilt often takes them over. And she started relating all these things to the accuracy and beauty of the song, like how graciously Jesus takes everything in.
While recording the album, Lauren’s grandfather passed away due to cancer. She was very close to her grandparents, as se use to live with them while in college. She moved to Nashville and started the journey in her career. But shortly after, her grandfather felt sick. She was supposed to record songs, but her grandfather was in immense pain and she begged to Lord to be able to say goodbye to her grandfather. And few days before he passed, she was there besides him.
This made her believe more in the God, her faith and trust expressed in the whole scenario. The song is about trusting Him and waiting on Him, and she saw what it actually means.
