Last October 2016, Kirk Cameron organized a nationwide event called ‘Revive Us’ that saw speakers as diverse as Francis Chan, Dr. Ben Carson, and Eric Metaxas coming together for a time of encouragement and worship.
The event was broadcast in theaters and included a live Q&A and a time of prayer. Last year’s event took place immediately before a very contentious election and in the trailer for the event, Kirk Cameron made it clear that what we need more than a new leader is a recognition that we already have the best leader imaginable: Jesus Christ.
Kirk Cameron and Revive Us 2
Last year’s event was so successful that Cameron has put together a similar event for this October. In the trailer for ‘Revive Us 2’, Cameron notes that, “Today, some say we’ve become more divided as a country than ever…and they say it’s only getting worse.” But there’s hope. With God, all things are possible. And there are a number of leaders, Cameron included, who believe that we’re on the verge a mighty work of God.
‘Revive Us 2’ seeks to help everyday Christians get a vision of what God wants to do through them for the world. This year’s event will see Kirk Cameron joined by Dr. Ben Carson, Joni Earckson Tada, Ravi Zacharias, Alex and Stephen Kendrick, and musical guests Zach Williams and Christian Cuevas. Billed as a night of worship and encouragement, Cameron says that the event will help participants discover “how we can bring hope and healing to our divided nation.”
With the division that’s all around us – politically, religiously, racially – an event like this could truly be a godsend. If there’s anything that we need – not only as a nation but as Christians – it’s to be reminded that God is calling us to more than bickering and arguing with one another.
According to the event’s website, theater-goers will have an opportunity to respond through discussion and prayer with each others. It will be showing in select theaters this October 24 with an encore presentation being made available on November 1 (2017).
